Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
 

1. Purpose
 

We are committed to creating a football environment that is inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination. This policy ensures that all participants have equal opportunities, in line with the Equality Act 2010 and the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan.
 

2. Scope
 

This policy applies to:
- Players (all ages and abilities)
- Coaches, volunteers, and officials
- Parents, carers, and spectators
- Anyone involved in club activities

 

3. Our Commitment
 

We will:
- Promote equality of opportunity in all aspects of the club
- Create an environment free from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation
- Actively challenge racism and all forms of prejudice
- Support diversity and inclusion across our club
- Ensure football is accessible to everyone in the community

 

We recognise that inclusion is not just about avoiding discrimination, but about actively creating fairness and belonging.
 

4. Protected Characteristics
 

We will not discriminate on the basis of the protected characteristics defined in the Equality Act 2010, including:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race (including ethnicity, nationality, colour)
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation

 

5. Anti-Racism Commitment
 

In line with the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan, we will:
- Take a zero-tolerance approach to racism
- Actively identify and remove barriers faced by ethnically diverse communities
- Encourage reporting of racist behaviour and act on it promptly
- Promote education and awareness around anti-racism
- Ensure representation and inclusion at all levels of the club

 

We recognise that being non-racist is not enough — we are committed to being actively anti-racist.
 

6. Responsibilities
 

Club Committee
- Ensure this policy is implemented and reviewed
- Promote equality and inclusion across all activities
- Take appropriate action when issues arise

 

Coaches and Volunteers
- Treat all participants fairly and with respect
- Challenge discriminatory behaviour
- Ensure inclusive coaching practices

 

Players and Members
- Respect others regardless of differences
- Report discrimination or concerns
- Follow club codes of conduct

 

7. Inclusive Practices
 

We will:
- Provide opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities
- Make reasonable adjustments for disabled participants
- Ensure facilities are welcoming and accessible where possible
- Use inclusive language and communication
- Consider affordability and access when planning activities

 

8. Reporting and Dealing with Discrimination
 

All incidents of discrimination, harassment, or bullying will be taken seriously.
 

Reporting process:
1. Report concerns to a coach, committee member, or safeguarding officer
2. Concerns will be recorded and reviewed promptly
3. Appropriate action will be taken, which may include disciplinary measures

 

Serious incidents may be referred to:

- The Football Association of Wales

- Relevant authorities if required
 

9. Breaches of Policy
 

Breaches may result in:
- Warnings
- Suspension
- Removal from club activities

 

Serious or repeated breaches, especially involving discrimination or racism, will be dealt with firmly.
 

10. Monitoring and Review
 

- This policy will be reviewed annually
- Feedback from members will be considered
- Updates will reflect changes in legislation and Welsh Government guidance
